Tea Trolley and Scones!

Dear friends!
I wish you were here for tea yesterday afternoon!!!

The other day my friend Christine said she saw this amazing Tea Trolley on Craigslist, and it was close to my home. 
She said she did not want to "tempt me", but I could not 
resist and checked and ended up buying it. 

It came with the tray on top... Look at the little drawer, what should I store there?
I am not sure how I will be able to sell some of the things I buy because I went to this house and the lady told me this Tea Trolley belonged to her grandmother, and that she served tea in it for 25 years. When she passed the Tea Trolley was inherited by her mother, and she served tea in it for another 25 years... and now it is MINE. How can I NOT serve tea in it???

It has a "scalloped" edge on each side, like a "pie" edge?

I have been waiting to make scones the same friend Christine served with tea in her house, to eat with her homemade marmalade she gave me a few weeks ago. I love orange marmalade!

The scones turned out WONDERFUL... I have made scones (or biscuits??) twice before but I have to say Christine's recipe is the best one.

Christine' s Scones
4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup softened butter
1 1/4 cup of buttermilk or cream (I used whipping cream)
4 eggs
3/4 raisins or berries (I chopped apricots and soaked them in warm water - drained them then added to batter in the end)
I also added some orange zest just to "match" with the apricots. Christine told me she "plays" with the recipe, so I did that, too!
She said she uses her mixer, so did I.
In the mixer, first the dry ingredients. Mix.
Add the butter, it will look like bread crumbs.
In low speed, add eggs and cream.
At the end, orange zest (if you want) and apricots.
Now in the summer I will try with fresh berries.
Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Scoop batter with ice cream scoops.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 350 for 15-20 minutes.
It yields 20 scones, 2 baking sheets and a half.

The sugar and creamer... and the little sugar spoon... my grandma had a spoon like that, that's why I bought it.

first silver teapot!

It made me so happy to finally have my tea with a scone, served in this beautiful Tea Trolley... 
I need to have Christine over and do all this for her!

1. I LIKE peeling oranges. I cut the peel around in one whole piece, and then slowly peel the white part and then I cut into sections... it relaxes me!


2. I have a DARK sense of humor... This means I laugh at stuff people don't always find funny...


3. I am PICKY. At a restaurant, I order a Diet Pepsi, no ice, and lime! LOL!


4. My real talent was cooking (my friends and family say) so I never imagined myself painting furniture or doing crafts.


5. I am in my THIRD (and LAST) marriage!

Modern Tea Trolley?

Hi, everyone!

I have been trying to finish some small tables to bring to 
The Olde Farmhouse Fair in June.


I think this would be a great end table, since there is space for magazines underneath. But also I thought it could be a great tea trolley to serve tea or even snacks and drinks at a party!

I painted with ASCP Paris Grey, distressed a bit, 

and finished with clear wax.

It looks pretty simple, but it took a long time to paint and wax.

I finally used something from The Graphics Fairy!!!!

Yesterday I received these cookies from a dear friend, 

and today I had them with tea!

In one of the cookies is written "LOVE"
I ate "FUN" yesterday, LOL!

I had to finish this session early...
Because my cookie monster was lurking...

Milk Glass Lamp!!!

I am becoming a real DIYer!!!
I found this BEAUTIFUL table lamp at my local Thrift Store!
It was missing a part, crystals and shade...

This is not the right space for it, 
but I was trying to get some light to show you the details.

I fell in love with the milk glass... 
and the metal details, I believe brass???

I went from the thrift store straight to the hardware store. Put this puppy in the buggy and pranced around like I had a baby in a stroller, LOL!!! People LOOKED at it with admiration, I SWEAR!!! 

I wish I had taken "before" pictures but I was so excited...
Bought the wire part that was missing to secure the lamp shade at the hardware store... 
Then found the shade at Home Sense.

I had crystals I bought for another chandelier I am going to finish, it needed four. Isn't it pretty???

So here are the mirrored doors again... now with lamps!!!

My living room was so dark... but I was waiting to find the RIGHT lamps!!!

I found the stand lamp at the hardware store! I saw it and then came home and could not stop thinking about it. So went back there and bought it!  

It was on sale because it was discontinued! It has and industrial look, in brass.  Score!!!! 

Ta-daaaaa!!!!

Dear Friends!!!

First I have to say THANK YOU to all of you that are following my adventures!!!!

I have to say that this blog (and all of you) bring me so much happiness. It is even strange, how this blog is changing my life. Thank you so much for all your encouragement!!!

SO, this life of "treasure hunting" is really exciting!!! About two weeks ago, I found and ad about some crystals. You know, the kind you hang on a chandelier?? So I have a chandelier I want to update. To make the story short...

The guy lived close to a friend of mine and was friends with the family!!! TALK ABOUT A SMALL WORLD!!!! "I die and don't see it all", like my uncle once said!!!

So, I went to his house and met this adorable little man, that has a passion for antiques like many of us!!! He even played a 3 million old record on a three million old record player for my friend and me. So cute.

Anyway... Bob showed me some of his treasures... (take your mind out of the gutter, LOL)

And I fell in love with these DOORS... If only I had a place to put it!!!

The only walls left in my living room where beside the window!!

Today Bob and my friend's husband Brian, came to deliver the doors. SO KIND!!!

The doors weight a ton, so I would break myself in half and wouldn't be able to carry them.

I am not sure about the blue blankets... I keep moving them around...

I had a bigger pile of magazines on this table... took it down a bit. This is the place we use the most. 

In the basket you will find a MEASURING TAPE (I browse on Craigslist with the little black laptop), my glasses (went blind last year)HAND CREAM, and a little NAIL KIT (so annoying if you need a file and can't find one)!

Note I took the blankets off the couch...

It will take a while to decide what goes on this table.  It is always changing...  Maybe a smaller vase with flowers would be better...

I love this silver tray sign I bought at The Passionate Home in Langley. Tried to make some myself, they looked crappy... The black statue my mom gave me; she said it reminded her of me, because I am crazy about my son. It is a mom holding her son up high. 

I love this picture because it is my stepdaughter with her daughter in her arms... I can see JOY in her face.
